Inventory counting is the process of physically checking how much of each product you hold and recording it against your catalog — the step that turns an assumed stock level into a real one. A stocktake counts everything at once, usually after hours. A cycle count takes one slice at a time — a storage area, a category, or a handful of items — on a repeating schedule, so your numbers stay close to the truth all year rather than for one week in twelve.

How often should I count inventory?
Count fast-moving and high-value items weekly, and everything else on a monthly or quarterly rotation. The rule that matters more than the interval: a count small enough to finish is worth more than a big one that gets abandoned.
How long does an inventory count take with trakr?
A single storage area — a walk-in, a bay, one fixture — is typically twenty to thirty minutes for one person. Splitting areas between two people halves it, and the progress bar tells you whether it is worth carrying on before close.
Can I count without an internet connection?
Yes. Counts are stored on the device as you go and sync automatically once you are back in signal.
Do I need a barcode scanner to count?
No. The phone camera reads EAN, UPC, Code 128 and QR. Items with no barcode are tapped from the list instead.
